JESUS CHRIST THE GREATEST NEED OF MANKIND

Sunday 25 December 2011 Sermon
by Ps. SETH ASARE OFEI BADU

Main Text: Isaiah 9:6
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Some Israelite still awaits the Messiah thinking he won't come by birth, but the scriptures states emphatically that He will be born; some took it serious, others did not.

Religious people are people who believe strongly in a god or gods.
The following people are all religious:
  • Individuals serving God because of their relationship (work, family etc.) with others
  • People who come to the house of God occasionally (Christmas and New year's eve)
  • People who seek God indifferently
  • People who seek God to protect their wealth, prestige and/or social status.
But all these people are not serving God rightly.
The wise men from the the east knowing His worth and value, how greatly significant He is, thought they could seek Him through the ruler of the land. But they went to seek Him themselves though.
How do we value our relationship with Jesus?
Do we know/acknowledge Him by His attributes as in the main text?
Do we seek Christ (the new born baby) by looking at others' devotion or commitment to Him?
We show to the world that Christ is the greatest need of mankind when we make them know that Jesus is precious to us. We need to search for Christ so we can continually abide in Him for He is our greatest need.

"Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein." (Luke 18:17)
Receive the message this day as a child; Seek Christ in Humility and fall into the Love web of God.
