GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS

Ps. Samuel Berko

Sunday 11th March 2012 Sermon by

REV. SAMUEL BERKO

MAIN TEXT: Matthew 28:16-20

"Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.* *And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

A great task has been entrusted to us - to make disciples of all. In the evangelistic ministry of Jesus, two categories of people are identified:

  1. The Crowd
  2. The Disciples
A disciple is a student of Jesus Christ. Our behaviour, conduct and lifestyle must portray that of Christ if indeed we are His disciples. Are you part of the crowd or a disciple? If we are disciples then we must learn to be good ones at that by emulating Christ, whatever Christ is should be seen in us. (Mark 6:30-44)

Have you come to Christ, only to have your fill of the stomach or to have fellowship with Him? We didn't follow Christ only to get riches and good life but to serve as Christ himself did: Serve and Sacrifice.  The disciples brought the bread and fish to Jesus; the crowd had their fill. Different people come to Christ for different reasons. It is my prayer that today you will have the right motives for serving God and thereby become a true disciple of Christ. A good disciple always give out whatever he/she has, so being a disciple or a follower/student of Christ, you must be able to give willingly. Are you ready to serve Him with both self and substance?
The success of this church in today's world is because we are ready to support missionaries and the mission work at large.

The task entrusted to us is full of challenges, trials and difficult scenarios, Lives are at risk; souls are at stake.

Disciples are people who God has given authority. (Mark 2:10)
