THE TRUE IDENTITY OF CHRIST

Matthew 16:13,14

"When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets."

In an Akan proverb, it is said ; If someone does not know you, he calls you a slave.
You can never know somebody unless you are close to him. You may see someone as good,; maybe  because of his generosity and kindness to people. But can be wicked when you are close to him. Some people can also be seen as wicked and bad, but when you get closer to them, you will realise they are good people. You can't know humans by what you hear about them by what others say  unless you get closer to them person before you can know the true identity of the person. (Hebrews  10: 35-36)

Jesus, filled with compassion healed the dumb blind man. Then the Pharisees called Him satan because they believed He used the power of beelzebub, the prince of demons (Matthew12:22-24).

Jesus and His disciples came to Caesarea, there He asked them who do people say the Son of Man is?
They said to Him, some say you are John thee Baptiste, others say Elijah and still others Jeremiah and one of the Prophets.
Then Jesus asked the twelve what about you, who do you say I am?
Peter answered, you are Christ, the Son of The Living God. Jesus said, blessed are you Simon son of Jonah for this  was not revealed to you by man but by my father in heaven.
The twelve have been with Jesus, therefore they got to know who He is.

In John 6:1, Jesus said to the Jews, I am the bread of life. If you eat my flesh and drink my blood, you have life.

When Jesus said these, those disciples who came to join the twelve asked; how can we accept this, so many of them deserted him. Then Jesus asked the twelve, don't you want to go?
Peter said, Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.

Those people didn't know who Jesus is so they deserted Him. But the twelve know Him. A lot was said about Jesus but could not change His identity.

No matter what people may think about you!
No matter what people may say about you!
No matter what names people may call you!

These can never change your identity as a child of God.

God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts who calls Abba Father (Gal 4:6)
We are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17)

  • The spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children (Romans 8:16)
  • We have rooms in heaven (John 14:1-3)
  • We are protected (Psalm 125:5-6)
  • God always fights for us (2 Chronicles 20:5-15)
  • God Disciples us (Hebrews 12:5-6)
  • As children, we have to create an atmosphere for peace (Romans 8:13)
  • Show good character and behaviour
  • Humble ourselves and have compassion for others to draw people for Christ. Preaching the gospel for people to repent for salvation
