WOMEN HAVE NO REAL INHIBITIONS IN CHRIST
“WOMEN HAVE
NO REAL INHIBITIONS IN CHRIST”
An Interview with Mrs. Grace Lucy Yeboah-Asuamah
The triennial
Women’s Ministry Conventions of the Church took off on Monday, July 8 and
climaxes on Sunday, July 14, 2013. We caught up with the Women’s Director, Deaconess
Grace Lucy Yeboah-Asuamah, at her office in the General Headquarters, and she
shares the spirit of the season in a brief interview:
We notice that this year’s Womens’ Conventions are being held in different
forms for Area to Area. Do you have any special reasons for that?
Women’s
Director: My concern is for the alarming rate at which women flock to
prayer camps and charlatans. This is very symptomatic of the diminishing
emphases on personal devotion and ministry responsibilities of women. This is
what primarily informed our decision to give the Area women leadership the flexibility
to organize the Conventions with more creativity. We are encouraging them to
plan the Conventions to reach as many women as possible, and involve them in
outreach, teaching and prayer.
Is there a common theme for the Conventions?
Women’s
Director: Yes, Women Worshipping the Lord in Spirit and in
Truth”. You can say that the Church’s
2013 theme was picked from the Lord’s conversation with a woman, and must
therefore be saying special things to women. It speaks of how close we have
been brought to God, to the extent that there are no barriers for us to cross
any longer. Women have no excuse to play second fiddle to men in worship. All
we have to do is to cast away all the old perceptions that held us back and
develop the personal relationship with God that is now open to us.
What happens after these Conventions; any special message for the women
to hold on to until the next Conventions in 2016?
Women’s
Director: Women’s issues are so numerous that we are really not
thinking about giving a message to be remembered for three years. We are
mulling over a number of interventions that will give the Lord room to fulfil
His will in us from day to day. For example, we feel really challenged by some
of the things that led to the formation of the then Women’s Movement. We have
been informed that Sophia, wife of the founder brought the women together
initially to upgrade their entrepreneurial abilities. She realized however that
the women rather desired Holy Spirit baptism. After they had been baptized by
the Holy Spirit, they started evangelizing and helped to open several
Assemblies throughout the country. We are therefore praying for activities that
will put us always in touch with the Spirit’s present day move.
Is there any special message you would like to send out to climax the
Conventions?
Women’s
Director: Well, the message is out already, as we shared some of the
thoughts I have shared with you earlier with the Women leadership at our end of
year meeting. We have been visiting the Conventions at the Areas, Districts and
Assemblies uninvited to supervise and see things for ourselves. The message I
am carrying on my rounds is a reminder from Isaiah 3:1-10, that although we may
sometimes feel forgotten, the Lord has the righteous engraved in His palms.
What we need most is to remember to walk in righteousness with God, worshipping
Him in Spirit and in Truth.
