ORDINATION OF CHURCH OFFICERS AT BNWC ON 8 DEC. 2013

THE JOB OF LEADERS IN TODAY'S CHURCH.

Texts: John14:12; 21:15-17;  Eph.4:11-15; Matt.28:19-20; 2 Tim.4:2

PRESENTED BY APS EMMANUEL ACHIM GYIMAH -KANESHIE AREA HEAD.

INTRODUCTION: I think, one of the greatest challenges facing the Church of Jesus Christ today is The Lack of Visionary and quality Leaders who can effectively nurture, equip, and mentor the members for ministry and for Leadership. Many have been ordained to join the leadership team without actually knowing their job. This has led to apathy, spiritual decline, poor Church attendance, lack of revival, momentum, and growth.
Leaders give the Vision and mobilize members to accomplish the work of Jesus Christ- Evangelism, Discipleship, Church Planting, Teaching and Mentoring others. Unfortunately many Leaders today are doing the services that members do or sadly to say sit idly to watch events in Church.
If I will ask the prospective candidates for ordination: Why do you want to be ordained, and for what Job? It will be a nightmare for some.
1.0 You are ordained to first and foremost to represent Jesus Christ on earth and in His Church in Character, Power, and Ministry (John 14:12; Gal.1:15-16). I wonder why believers and Church Leaders do not measure up to Jesus' promise in John 14:12. This failure is because we fail to grow in the Faith through the knowledge of God's word to maturity (2 Tim 3:15-17).
The Three levels of Faith in Christ must be attained to be able to do the greater works He Promised:
   1.1 Saving Faith-Jn.6:40
    1.2 Growing Faith -2 Tim.3:15-17
     1.3 Matured Faith- 2Peter 1:5-10; James 2:14-17

2.0 You are ordained for the Job of Equipping members for the work of Ministry (Eph.4:11-13). This involves Teaching, Bible Studies, Home-Cells, Mentoring , shepherding and Caring for needs of members (John 21:15-17)
3.0 Leading the Church in various Evangelical outreaches ( 2Tim.4:2-5)eg. Use of mobile phones, text messages, Prison and Hospital visitations, Children's Homes to adopt some are all involved in fruitful evangelism for Church Growth.
4.0 Jesus was involved in Four key areas of Ministry which must engage our attention and Job:
  4.1 Teaching in the Synagouges ( Chaples)-Matt.4:23
4.2 Preaching the Good-news of God's Kingdom- do-
4.3 Healing all manner diseases and afflictions among the people -Matt.4:23.
4.4 Equipping And mentoring His Disciples to be Leaders and Partakers of
          His mission and ministry.(Luke 6:12-13; Matt.10:1-4)
