JESUS CHRIST THE GREATEST NEED OF MANKIND

Image
Sunday 25 December 2011 Sermon by Ps. SETH ASARE OFEI BADU Main Text: Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Some Israelite still awaits the Messiah thinking he won't come by birth, but the scriptures states emphatically that He will be born; some took it serious, others did not. Religious people are people who believe strongly in a god or gods. The following people are all religious: Individuals serving God because of their relationship (work, family etc.) with others People who come to the house of God occasionally (Christmas and New year's eve) People who seek God indifferently People who seek God to protect their wealth, prestige and/or social status. But all these people are not serving God rightly. The wise men from the the east knowing His worth and value, how gr...

REMEMBER YOUR VOW: DON'T BREAK IT

Image
Sunday 18th December, 2011 Sermon by ELD. EMMANUEL DANQUAH Main Text: Judges 11:30-32,34,34 "And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD'S, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering. So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands. And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter. And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back. " To vow...

YOUR SAVIOUR IS BORN: LOOK FOR HIM

Image
Sunday Sermon by APOSTLE JOSEPH K. ASSABIL (Ar ea Head, COP, Agormanya) If we do not move beyond our parochial interests and traditions to truly seek Jesus like the wise men did, we, like King Herod and the Jews, will not find Him. Main Text: Matthew 2:1-12 (Quoted in full at the bottom of this post) See also Luke 2:8-16 God's Plan through Abraham and His Descendants If you study the scriptures, one realizes that God’s ultimate mission is to let the people know who He is, and how He can transform them. Whiles Abraham had not known Him, God revealed Himself to him (Abraham was the first person God revealed Himself to for that purpose). God promised Abraham a lot of things, key among which is "in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed" (Gen. 12:3b). Jesus is from the lineage of Abraham so all who believe in Christ become descendants of Abraham (Gal. 3:14) . Interestingly, Abraham's descendants, now commonly called the Jews or Israelis rather failed to...

ESCHATOLOGY

Image
Sun 4th December 2011 Sermon By BRO. DANIEL NYARKO Main Text: 2 Peter 3:10-12 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?" Eschatology, from two Greek words meaning last (ἔσχατος, last) and study (λογία, lit. discourse), is the study of the end of things, whether the end of an individual life, the end of the age, or the end of the world. Broadly speaking, eschatology is the study of the destiny of man as it is revealed in the Bible. The major issues and events in Christian eschatology are: de...

FAITH

It will be Interesting to know the number of Ministries that have either Folded or gone Apostate just because Men called by God failed to See Promised Results Soon Enough By Pastor Seth Asare Ofei Badu - BNWC Resident Pastor Main Text: 1 John 5:1-5,10 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? Faith is trust, hope, and belief in the goodness, trustworthiness or reliability of God; Faith is belief that is not based on proof. Faith embodies more than the common notion of belief. Faith...

GIVING

Sunday 20 November, 2011Sermon by Ernest Boadi (A Promising Leader making his first Sunday Stand) Main Text Acts20:35; Deuteronomy 16:17 "I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." " Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee." What is Giving? A dictionary defined giving as disposing of property by voluntary transfer without receiving value in return. Note these important words in the definition · Disposing: parting or transferring ownership of something to another · Voluntary: willingly without force · Without receiving: you give, not expecting to have anything back "Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich n...

THE FULLNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, KEY TO EFFECTIVE MINISTRY

Image
By Pastor Elijah Mahama, Adwen-Bu District Pastor ( Visiting BNWC on Sunday, November 13, 2011 ) Being Led By The Spirit Of God Into Fruitful Living Main Text: Genesis 50:20,21 "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them." Don't be a spectator; be a channel of blessings for others. God is going to do something new and our heart will be at peace. When we allow ourself to be filled by the Holy spirit any work/task set before us, we will do it with ease. What is Ministry? Ministry is the profession/work of the church; the religious work done by someone. And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it. (Colossians 4:17) What is God using you to do for His church? Have you availed yourself for His divine p...

APOSTOLIC DOCTRINE HOUR: THE FIRST EPISTLE OF JOHN

Image
The Pastor's Teaching Outline (As studied at the Church of Pentecost , BNWC, from September, 2011) Letter Summary The evidence of our being born again is that we live in love through faith. In 1John 1, we note the following: 1. John is telling us the what he got from His experience with Jesus, a first hand witness 2. The force of the life and message of Jesus is that God is light 3. Man has fallen short of God’s glory, but will find forgiveness and strength to live up to the glory of God, if he owns up and accepts that what Jesus has done, is for His sake. In coming into 1 John 2, we note that: 4. Our proof of partaking in the benefits of Christ, is our obedience to Him (6,29) 5. The chief indicator of our obedience to Him is our love for others, as Jesus Himself gave His life for us (John 15:13) 6. The love of the world wastes the love of God, in that whereas the love of God is selfless, the love of the world is carnal and selfish ...

THE BLOOD OF JESUS

Image
SUNDAY, 6TH NOVEMBER 2011 SERMON By Dcns Eva Botchway Main Text: Hebrews 9:22,12 "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." The Blood is for the atonement of sin. Romans 5 says " Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:... Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come". God's Solution He had to intervene so that man can attain perfection through the love Christ. Christ came to die once and for all to cleans us and draw us near to god. Sanctification Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered w...

SUFFER DISGRACE FOR THE NAME

Image
Jesus Has Promised Prosperity and Persecution By Mrs. Gifty A. Ofei Badu (BNWC Pastor’s Wife) Main Texts: Acts 5:40-42, Mark 10:29, 30 Passage for Study Acts 1 - 5 The series of events that led the apostles to rejoice in being whipped and threatened for the sake of the gospel are remarkable: Jesus commands the disciples to stay at Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit Peter addresses the onlookers after the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, and baptizes 3000 men, because they received Power. They spoke boldly and did many signs and wonders. Peter heals the cripple at the temple gate and this raises a lot of controversies. Peter addresses the crowd about Jesus, who was sent down to us as our savior, but they through the influence of their leaders. He tells them it was not too late for them to repent of their sins and be forgiven The Sanhedrin is worried because the apostles are preaching about the resurrected Christ and many ...

GIVING SACRIFICIALLY FROM OUR DEEPEST POVERTY

Your Ability to Give Has Got Nothing to Do with How Much You Have By Deacon Peter Ennin, (BNWC Children Ministry Leader) MEMORY VERSE And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave us much as they were able and beyond their ability entirely on their own. (2 Corinthians 8:1-3 NIV) TEXT: JOHN 12:1-8 Apostle Paul writing from Macedonia hoped that news of the generosity of these churches (i.e. churches at Philippi, Thessalonica and Berea) would encourage the Corinthian believers and motivate them to solve their problems and unite in fellowship. During his third missionary journey, Paul had collected money for the poor believers in Jerusalem which they had sacrificially (deep from poverty) given more than Paul expected although they were poor themselves. One of the thin...
