ARE YOU IN THE FAITH?
1 Cor. 11:27-31, 2Cor. 13:5, Eph 1:1-21
It is stock taking time once again at the Lord’s Table. Indeed the Lord has done a great thing for us by giving His life to transform ours in this life and the next. He has made us Light of the World (Mt 5:14-16); His Qualified Employees (Eph 2:10); Vessels of the Holy Spirit (1Cor 6:19-20); and Citizens of Heaven (Phil 3:20). Taking a good account of how we are measuring up to this great calling will help us today to live daily more deliberately to establish His Kingdom on Earth. Any other purpose makes us unworthy partakers of this Table.
1. Light to the World
a. Without you, there is no light in the world
b. You live in the open, made very visible by the light of Christ once lit in you
c. You must hold yourself accountable as standard of conduct wherever you are (on facebook, at funerals and family meetings, at your workplace and home, in your community and compound house. See Phil 2:15)
2. Employee in God’s Vineyard
a. As soon as you are born of God, you are no longer unemployed as there is so much to do in the House of God (Compassion, Intercessions, Witnessing, Baptisms, Exercising the Gifts of the Spirit, and Passing on Ministry) See Romans 12: 6-8
b. A worker in the house of God is worth his/her wages or keep. 1 Tim 5:18
c. A worker in the house of God must discharge duties with diligence for God cannot be mocked. See 2 Tim 2:15
d. Spend time to study the Word
3. Vessel of the Holy Spirit
a. The Holy Spirit is powerful presence of God in you for supernatural interventions and manifestations of gifts. See 1 Cor. 12: 7-11
b. The comforting and guiding presence of God maturing His image in you. Gal 5:22
c. He is the Only One who will properly convict you of sin.
d. Keep yourself pure for His use:
i. Stay away from flesh gratifying endeavours such as gluttony, sexual impurities, visual adultery and fornication, unclean and worthless conversations. See Gal 5:16-21 and Eph 4:30, 31
ii. Learn to listen to Him and follow His guidance: Engage more in spiritual exercises of prayer, fasting, witnessing and other activities of your calling
4. Citizen of Heaven
a. When people believe they can belong to a better country than the one they are of now, they spend all they have to make the journey or change.
b. God guarantees your citizenship of a country greater than any on earth, and our lives and attitudes must show that we appreciate this gift
i. You must live as an ambassador and an emissary, sent here for a short time for a purpose. 1 Peter 2:11-12
ii. Your hopes must not co-terminate with the hopes of unbelievers.
iii. We must not struggle over earthly things with unbelievers. See 2 Cor. 6:14
