THE MAN GOD USES
THE MAN GOD USES
BY ELDER JONAH TAWIAH OTABIE
Does God use the … ?
1. Notable/Deprived
2. Old/Young
3. Holy/Unclean
4. Strong/Weak
5. Learned/Illiterate
6. Rich/Poor
1. Notable: Solomon was a KING but he was used by God. The wisdom he asked from God enabled him to detect the real mother of the living child as seen in I King 3:28. Many people saw the glory of the Lord through his judgment. (I King10:1). You can also be used by God no matter your high status in society if you lean on God for directives.
Deprived: Gideon was the youngest in the tribe of Manasseh, the least of the twelve tribes but he was called and used by God to deliver the Israelites from the Midianites. (Judges 6:14-15). No matter your low status in life, your dependence on God and total obedience to God qualify you to be used by God.
2. Young/Old: David and Samuel, though young, were used by God. Young David killed Goliath (I Samuel 17:14). God spoke through young Samuel about the misconduct of the children of Eli (I Samuel 2:18). If the old Pastors and Christians should impart and inject the fear of God in the young ones, they should not fear of the future of their respective churches. The old were once young but because they were religiously mentored by old Pastors and Christians, they are still useful vessel in the house of God.
3. Holy/Unclean: The Virgin Mary was a vessel through whom the Saviour Jesus Christ was born. (Luke 1:27-28). Without holiness, no one can see God (Hebrews 12:14) but Harlot Rahab who accepted and protected the spies on a mission to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, was saved. Wonderfully, the Saviour Jesus Christ emerged from the generation of Rahab. Remain in your holiness and you will be mightily used by God.
Do not wallow in your state of sin as a harlot, robber, thief, murderer etc. Just accept Jesus as your saviour and your sins shall be the thing of the past. You shall be a brand new person and you will be a vessel of God to bring salvation to your generation (II Corinthians 5:17). Do you know that the Lord used even the unclean lepers to win war for Israel? Read II Kings 7:2-13. You are already forgiven of your sins because of the blood of Jesus shared on the Calvary cross. Forgive yourself and live for Jesus and you shall be more than qualified to be used by God.
4. Strong: Samson was born strong. His strength was used by God to deliver the Israelites who had been under the threat of Philistines for forty years (Judges 13:1, Judges 15:18). The strong can be used by God to do manual work in the house of God which ordinary person cannot do. Do not take advantage of your strength to bully, rob or attack people. You can volunteer to be trained as a security guard to protect assets in the house of God. Let the spirit of God abound in you to be holy and acceptable for His glory.
Weak: The same Philistines once again became a threat to the Israelites with all the presence of the strong, trained and experienced soldiers of Israel. Young David, with no military training and experienced, killed Goliath and brought victory to the Israelites (I Samuel 17:42-50). Jesus is our victorious banner and is prepared to use the weak mightily. The battle is neither for the strong nor the race for the swift. It is the spirit of God which makes the difference. You only have to avail yourself unto the Lord.
5. Learned: Acts 26:24 reveals Paul as a scholar of a difference whose speech almost made Aggripa a Christian. The anointing of the Holy Ghost saturated the academic excellence of Paul and he was mightily used by God to bring the Gospel even to the gentiles. Luke, a physician, (Colossian 4:14) experiencing the essence of the death of Jesus Christ, availed himself unto the Lord. He took pain to write his experience of the Gospel which has been a guide to our salvation. Let not the scholars boast of their intellect. They should rather boast of knowing Christ and support the kingdom business with their intellect. If you are a medical doctor, a professor, an engineer or a pilot, do not hesitate to surrender unto the Lord Jesus if you are called into the full time ministry to preach the Gospel. Academia does not dilute spirituality. You can equally evangelize to your peers to know Christ.
Illiterate: The twelve disciples were mostly fishermen (Luke 5:2-10) but there was massive manifestation of healing, deliverance and above all salvation in the message they preached; the lame, the blind, the possessed etc were healed and delivered. No matter the level of your academic status, you can still be a vessel of God if you lean on the directives of the Holy Ghost. He will be your teacher, your example and your pattern.
6. Rich/Poor: King Solomon was rich. He built and decorated the temple of God with gold showing his reverence to God (I Kings 6:21). If the Shunemite woman and her husband had not been rich enough, they could not have built a room so fast for Elisha, man of God (II Kings 4:8-10). It can never be true that riches dilutes spirituality. Imagine how happy you become if you have money to offer unto the Lord during offering time! The rich who know Christ and understand their salvation joyfully give out money or their wealth to support a worthy course in the kingdom business. You are rich to be a blessing unto the kingdom business and your family.
Remember I Samuel 2:7-8 “The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them.” Your state of poverty should not prevent you from accepting Christ as your personal Saviour. Jesus is the one who is able to elevate you from poverty to riches so that you will have a testimony to tell your onlookers.
YOU QUALIFY TO BE A VESSEL OF GOD.
YOU ONLY HAVE TO AVAIL YOURSELF UNTO THE LORD
IN WHATEVER STATUS YOU FIND YOURSELF
