KNOW YOUR GOD
BY
ELDER EMMANUEL KWAKU DANQUAH
TEXT: And we know that
all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the
called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also presdestined to
be conformed to the image of His son, that he might be the first born among
many brethren.
Moreover
whom He predestined, these he also justified; and whom He justified, these He
also glorified.
What then
shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who
did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not
with Him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8:28-32) KJV
If God is
on your side, who can be against you. All things that were mentioned from verses
28 - 31, the Apostle Paul summarized. Then he continued to say that if He did
not hinder his Son against us, how many times He will not give all things to
us.
Every
Christian goes through trials and temptations but if you know the God you
worship, you will look at them and laugh over them. God has a special purpose
for his children and it is so that’s why we wake up in the night, to prepare
ourselves to worship Him.
Before God
created the world, He set you apart. Because of His purpose for you, He set you
apart and hid you at a special place
that anytime he is in need of you, he will use you for that purpose (Jeremiah 1:4 -5).
Brethren we
have something and that thing we have is the God we serve. It is God who sent
his only Son to come and wipe our sins away so it is expected of us that we
live a life full of joy.
This world
has two masters, Jesus and Satan and each of these two has a manifesto that
each uses to rule the world but my advice to us all is to be wise and vigilant
like the wise serpent. Satan’s manifesto
is to steal, kill and destroy because
of this, he tries hard to bring all unnecessary temptations on us to win us
into his kingdom but Jesus’s manifesto is to give life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10). So as Christians, we need to know God well and have
this life in abundance.
We have
something precious as Christians and because we don’t know that precious thing
we have allowed Satan to rule over us. Let us accept God wholly and when we do
that, we will see his power in our lives. Amen.
In Daniel 3:1-25, Nebuchadnezzar a king, made an image of gold, of height ninety
feet and nine feet of width. The King sent word to assemble all administrators,
governors, counselors, treasurers, judges etc. for dedication. It was dedicated
and a herald commanded in a loud voice that at the sound of the trumpet, all
should bow and worship the image of gold made.
One day,
Daniel and his friends (Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego) disobeyed the King by
not worshipping the image because they knew it is written that “You shall not make for yourself a carved
image- any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above and on earth; you
shall not bow down to them nor serve them, For I the Lord your God, am jealous God”. (Exodus 20:4-5).
They were
summoned and told that if they do not worship the image, they will
be thrown into the burning furnance (verse
15). The respond they gave was that they believe the God whom they serve
that even when thrown into the furnance; he is able to deliver them.
How many of us can say this and believe the God we worship
that he can deliver us from trials and temptations?
For Daniel
and his friends, they did that before they were thrown into a blazing furnance,
even when the furnance was made hot seven times more, they still kept the faith
by worshipping and believing in God.
Because
they knew the God they worship, they were rescued from the furnance which King
Nebuchadnezzar set for anyone who disobeyed. Later when he drew near the mouth
of the furnance, he testified that he ordered that, three (3) men be thrown but
he can see four men in the furnance, which the fourth person looked like the
Son of God. (verse 25). He later
accepted and believed that these three men Shadrach, Meshach and Abed- Nego’s
God that they serve is a living God.
Fellow Christians,
at times we need to let the world know that the God we have and serve is able
to deliver us from our troubles. It is only through this that we can win more
souls for Christ. In verse 28- 29,
they won the King’s heart and all the people of Babylon to Christ.
Amen!
