THE CHILD WORSHIPPING GOD IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH
THE CHILD WORSHIPPING GOD IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH
Sermon by Philomina Dede Lam
TEXT: WHEN HE AROSE, HE TOOK THE YOUNG CHILD AND HIS MOTHER BY NIGHT AND DEPARTED FOR EGYPT, AND WAS THERE UNTIL THE DEATH OF HEROD, THAT IT MIGHT BE FULFILLED WHICH WAS SPOKEN BY THE LORD THROUGH THE PROPHET, SAYING, “OUT OF EGYPT I CALLED MY SON” (Matthew 2: 14-15) NKJ
The
Scripture above tells us about Jesus birth. When he was born, the three wise
men saw his star, travelled to Bethlehem where he was born. Before the visit of
the wise men, King Herod had heard of the birth of this little boy Jesus whom the prophet Hosea and Isaiah
had prophesied that he will be a great King. He was greatly disturbed because
he will not sit for a little child to reign his Kingdom so he ordered that all male
children below 2 years be killed not only in Bethlehem and its vicinity but
also in all villages of that city. This shows that the boy Jesus will be a Star
in future.
But God
didn’t want the child Jesus be
killed so that the promise be fulfilled (Hosea 11:1), he revealed it through an
angel to them in a dream that His father, mother and the child should travel
from Bethlehem to Egypt.
They obeyed
God and travelled in the night by foot (90miles) from Bethlehem to Egypt
because of the following:
- He will be protected from being Killed by Herod
- He will also be the shinning star out of the promise made by God that through him the world will be saved.
If Joseph
and Mary was obedient to God to send the child to Egypt, I will entreat all
parents to not to be disobedient but rather, make it their habit to ensure they
wake their children up early, bath them and make sure their children attend
Children Services every Sunday morning. It is only through this that these
children will be able to worship God in Spirit and in truth.
The following are some roles that parents can play to help
their children worship God in Spirit and in Truth
1.
Pray for the children ( 1 Thess.
5:17)
2.
Have morning devotions with them at
home and educate them in the word of God by making sure they read their Bibles
everyday.
3.
Help to educate them by helping
them do their home work school.
4.
Have good relationship with them,
know their whereabouts and also buy gifts for them.
5.
Teach them by ensuring they do not
involve themselves in acts that please Satan such as stealing, backbiting,
insulting adults etc.
6.
Ensuring children obey them and adults in their
vicinity (Ephes. 6:1)
7.
Spend more time with God and Less
time with man.
Dear
parents in the Lord, God will be pleased to see these children worshipping Him
in Spirit and in Truth when we play our roles well.
God bless you all.
Amen!
God bless you all.
Amen!
