Sunday 8th September, 2013 THE CHILD WORSHIPPING GOD IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH Sermon by Philomina Dede Lam TEXT: WHEN HE AROSE, HE TOOK THE YOUNG CHILD AND HIS MOTHER BY NIGHT AND DEPARTED FOR EGYPT, AND WAS THERE UNTIL THE DEATH OF HEROD, THAT IT MIGHT BE FULFILLED WHICH WAS SPOKEN BY THE LORD THROUGH THE PROPHET, SAYING, “ OUT OF EGYPT I CALLED MY SON” (Matthew 2: 14-15) NKJ The Scripture above tells us about Jesus birth. When he was born, the three wise men saw his star, travelled to Bethlehem where he was born. Before the visit of the wise men, King Herod had heard of the birth of this little boy Jesus whom the prophet Hosea and Isaiah had prophesied that he will be a great King. He was greatly disturbed because he will not sit for a little child to reign his Kingdom so he ordered that all male children below 2 years be killed not only in Bethlehem and its vicinity but also in all villages of that city.
