Does The Lord Still Have Need of You?

Image
There is a part of salvation called deliverance. We are set free from Satan’s control, sin, guilt or defiled conscience, demon possession, poverty, sickness, etc. His humility, suffering, and death paid the penalty and broke the bondage for us. We will however enjoy this deliverance only to the extent that we bear the Lord’s yoke. In today’s sermon, we look at how Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on the colt of a donkey shows the process of our deliverance and the nature of the Lord’s yoke. We ask and answer the question: What happens to your burdens and bondage when the Lord has no need of you. Main Reading: Luke 19: 29-36 A Quick Study of the Details of the Freed Colt’s Story The Donkey that Jesus Sat On 1.       It was a foal (never before sat on) – represents young, newly born or born again 2.       It was by nature destined to bear increasingly heavy earthly burdens – Guilt of Sins, worries and cares (See Job 5...

AS A WORSHIPER OF GOD: WHAT IS YOUR TESTIMONY?

Image
Sunday 17 February, 2013 Pastor Bonnah Sumo Acts 9: 36-41 Now there was at Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity. In those days she fell sick and died; and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.  38 Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him entreating him, "Please come to us without delay." So Peter rose and went with them. And when he had come, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping, and showing tunics and other garments which Dorcas made while she was with them. But Peter put them all outside and knelt down and prayed; then turning to the body he said, "Tabitha, rise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.  And he gave her his hand and lifted her up. Then calling the saints and widows he presented her alive. The scripture talks about Dorcas who was v...

I AM THAT I AM

by  ELDER JONAH TAWIAH OTABIE – EXODUS 3:14 a.       The quotation talks about the sovereignty of God, the All-Powerful. He decides what to do and how to treat mankind in any state of life. b.       The supplementary quotations below will prompt one to question if God is partial, discriminatory in the punishments He metes out to people committing the same crime or sin. c.       THEFT : Achan – Joshua 7:1 & 25               Ananias – Acts 5:1 &5                                  Acts 5:10 Achan stole what did not belong to him at all and he was stoned to death together with his family members. Ananias and his wife Saphira promised and sold their own land to support the...

DO IT WELL!

Image
From the beginning of the year we have come to an agreement that true worship is through Christ and all the rest is false worship. Today, we turn our attention to attitude in worship, which is required for results. Main Readings: Genesis 4:1-9; 1Cor. 11:27-29; Rev 3:15,16 Eccl. 9:10 IN BRIEF Everybody relates to God, but what makes the difference is how. Some relate to Him with rever ence (Abel), some with apathy (Cain I, v3), and some with contempt (Cain II, v9) The normal axiom has been that our sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59: 1,2) but who can make that assertion, now that Jesus, the sacrificial lamb of God, has paid for all our sin. In Isaiah 58 as in 1 Corinthians 11, the people observed the sacrifice ordinances of burnt offerings, fasting and appearing before the lord, but their attitude was selfish. What can separate us from God now is our attitude. SACRIFICE WITH ATTITUDE After man’s fall, the children of Adam and Eve probably learnt quickly that to draw near God now and...

WORSHIPING THE ONLY TRUE GOD

Image
By Jonathan Annan John 17 :3-5   And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. I glorified thee on earth, having accomplished the work which thou gavest me to do; and now, Father, glorify thou me in thy own presence with the glory which I had with thee before the world was made. 1 Corinthians    8 : 4-6  Hence, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that "an idol has no real existence," and that "there is no God but one." For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth--as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"--yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. 1 Timothy           2 :5  For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,   All...

TRUE WORSHIP THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS

Image
Sunday 6 January 2013. Hebrew 10: 19-25  "Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,  by the new and living way which he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God,  let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,  not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." Colossians 2:6-18  "As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so live in him,  rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in ...
